Colin's story
Since his discharge from hospital, Colin has been working towards his goals of being able to walk unaided, reopen his second-hand store and ultimately take his wife on a holiday to the Atherton Tablelands. With a rigorous physiotherapy routine, Colin has seen significant progress in edging towards reaching these goals.
Colin receives care three times a day, 7 days a week. On a typical day, Programmed Care arrive first thing in the morning to help Colin get ready for the day, and then straight into his morning walk and balancing exercises. After his exercises, Colin likes to watch sport, browse antiques websites or chat with his friends on the phone or via skype. In the evenings, after dinner has been prepared and all the dishes washed and stored, Colin will do one final round of physiotherapy, before his CPAP machine is fitted and he is helped into bed.
As a former business owner, Colin is naturally a very social person and since partnering with Programmed Care, he is now able to visit his favourite café once a week, to have breakfast with his friends. Both Colin and his wife have developed strong relationships with his support workers, which has allowed his wife to continue living a healthy lifestyle, knowing her husband is being well looked after by someone they both trust.
