Kolbe Catholic College (Kolbe) is a co-educational secondary school located in Melbourne’s northern suburbs.

Kolbe and Programmed have built a strong 5-year relationship as a result of our involvement in major transformation works at the school.

Project Description

After Kolbe moved to a new site in Greenvale Lakes, they looked to equip students with their own sports oval, opting for a synthetic sports field encompassing a 6-lane running track, playscape and canteen. Programmed’s construction of the new low-maintenance sports field, taking it from initial concept design to construction and installation, has significantly enhanced the quality of the school’s student facilities.

Project Solution

The entire process was made simple for Kolbe with Programmed overseeing all aspects of the build, such as civil earthworks, drainage asphalt, fencing, and contractor management. We used turf with significantly thicker pile, dense rubber underlay and increased the volume of sand per square meter of turf to accommodate a range of sports while providing better impact absorption.

Having clearly demonstrated our capabilities on the sports field, we were subsequently engaged by Kolbe for exterior painting and signage upgrade services.

The school was confident that we would deliver works with little disturbance to teachers or students. We lived up to this, seamlessly executing their paint requirements for a colour match to existing buildings, in conjunction with the installation of their main signage. The school was impressed by our end-to-end- service, which also included the initial sign concept design. This helped to provide an all-around service with an impressive outcome.

Project Outcome

The new sports field has provided Kolbe an additional income stream. They can now hire out the fully equipped sports venue shown off to its best amidst freshly painted school buildings and modern signage – all of which combine to make a significant first impression.

Jim Flynn, the school’s principal, finds simplicity in implementing all these works. Programmed has helped them to manage multiple work requirements with ease and minimal disturbance to students and staff.
