Opened in 1974, this school provides a quality education to 10 – 13-year-old children in a peaceful rural setting with a focus on the cultural significance of the area
Project Description
Built on the historical Pa site of the Te Atiawa tribe in Waitara, Manukorihi Intermediate is one of the smaller schools within the area which allows them to develop strong staff-student relationships. The school setting itself also has a part in engendering a productive learning environment. Over the years the school’s buildings had unfortunately become run down and a bit tired looking so it was decided a refresh was in order. Programmed was recommended to them by a neighbouring school and so we were approached for a consultation.
Project Solution
The local team at Programmed’s Taranaki branch met with the Principal to discuss their requirements both in regards to the refresh of the buildings and budgeting needs. Using our extensive knowledge in property maintenance in the education industry, we carefully put together a long-term programme for Manukorihi Intermediate School. Careful scheduling and efficient use of resources enabled us to complete a full exterior repaint of the school hall, administration block and classrooms during term time without any interruption to staff or students. With the investment in the project able to be spread over the programme’s term, the initial financial burden on the school was alleviated. The regular maintenance component of the programme provides on-going benefits, as compared to a once-off project, and assures the school of their campus’ presentation for years to come.
Project Outcome
The staff, students and the local community now have a renewed sense of pride in the campus with its clean new look.
“Through the recent painting of our buildings, the past pride for the site and our school has been uplifted. The respect from our students and whanau has also increased. We suspect this is a joint consequence of the outside of our school reflecting the quality, care and respect for what is occurring inside our classrooms.
Despite the fact the colour scheme was constructed by our architect, the quality of paint and workmanship provided by Programmed Property Services has brought the original concept to life and realization.
Through our experience, the Programmed Property Services staff have been really great to work with and the project ran to the expected timeframes. Additionally, the sub-contractors were respectful and the quality of the workmanship was consistently well managed by the PPS team.” Scott Walden, Principal
