At Programmed Facility Management, investing in people is just as important as investing in our equipment. That’s why we bring young talent into our teams through apprenticeship programs, giving them the tools, support and experience they need to grow and succeed.
Karl Peng joined Programmed as an assistant in the sports field management Team, learning everything from line marking and mowing to turf repairs. “After seven months, I spoke with my Team lead about my career goals and I was booked into get my New Zealand certificate in Horticulture – Sports Turf course. At Programmed, I feel fully supported. All the courses are free and the team is fantastic” Karl says.
For our senior team members, mentoring is both a responsibility and a reward. Programmed Turf Specialist Matt Baxter explains, “Sharing our knowledge and seeing new team members grow is incredibly satisfying. When apprentices become reliable and capable, it helps the whole team and ensures the business continues to thrive.”
This program is more than just training, it’s about future proofing the industry. With an ageing workforce, bringing in apprentices like Karl introduces new ideas, fresh energy and long term career pathways. “This isn’t just a job; it’s a career path,” Karl says. “I enjoy working with people here, learning every day and building my skills for the future.”
At Programmed, we’re proud to offer opportunities that grow both people and teams. By supporting apprentices and fostering mentorship, we’re shaping the future of sports field management while helping individuals build meaningful careers.
