At Programmed Facility Management New Zealand, we’re proud to mark an exciting milestone, welcoming our first-ever apprentices into the business.
This initiative, championed by Head of Facility Management – New Zealand, Matthew Cotterall and strongly supported across our leadership team, reflects Programmed’s commitment to supporting development, learning and long-term career pathways for our people.
Meet our trailblazers:
Wattie – formerly part of our sanitation team, Wattie took the initiative to complete his electrical pre-trade certificate independently. Recognising his drive and passion, we brought him into the trades team as a first-year apprentice electrician.

Dominique – already well on her way in her apprenticeship journey, Dominique came to us through a team connection and has joined Programmed as a second-year electrical apprentice.

Both Wattie and Dominique are working closely alongside a senior, experienced electrician, with plans to rotate mentors every six months. This ensures they gain exposure to different work styles, projects and technical experiences, helping them grow into confident, capable trades professionals.
“Supporting apprenticeships isn’t just about filling skill gaps, it’s about investing in people and their futures. This program is an important step in building our internal capability and continuing to grow the next generation of skilled tradespeople within Programmed FM,” says Michael O’Keefe, Senior Operations Manager, Trades and Projects.
We’re proud to see our team leading the way in fostering talent, creating opportunities and shaping meaningful career pathways across New Zealand.
