Project Description
Puhinui Station is one of Auckland’s newest additions to the Rail Network and is located in South Auckland, Papatoetoe. It is an iconic station and is the first in New Zealand to feature bilingual (Te Reo and English) signage. Unlocking fast, frequent and easy connections to Auckland Airport, the station needed easy-to-read signage to help passengers navigate their way around and get to where they needed to be efficiently. Auckland Transport wanted to find a company that could design, create and install more than 300 small to large scale way-finding signs within a tight timeframe. This company needed to put health and safety first as they would be installing some signage onto a high level, 20m building.
Project Solution
Programmed had a previous working relationship with Auckland Transport and, with safety being a core value of our business, were certain of our ability to deliver a safe outcome in line with our Zero Harm belief.
Our proven track record of delivering work in ‘live’, high risk, busy construction and rail environments, meant Programmed were a right fit for the job. Programmed’s expert signage and safety teams completed thorough audits and were very methodical in planning every detail to assure the customer of a safe, high-quality project. The team effectively completed the task from start to finish, beginning with design and drawings, approvals, manufacturing, and seamless implementation. We maintained regular communication to keep the customer informed and updated throughout.
Project Outcome
Easy to read, appealing signage has made the station a safe, efficient environment. The signs have made a huge difference to the station and allowed the public to easily navigate their way around. The Programmed team willingly picked up additional tasks and worked overtime to get the job completed within the timeframe set, overall resulting in the job coming in under budget.
