Celebrating the 500th School Upgrade Milestone – Programmed Facility Management

500 Schools Upgraded across New Zealand – A Major Achievement in the Ngā Iti Kahurangi Programme

"To mark this special occasion, we put together a video celebrating the success of the 500th school upgrade. Watch the video to see firsthand how our upgrades are making a real difference in the day-to-day learning experiences of students and teachers alike. "

We’re excited to announce a major milestone in our partnership with the Ministry of Education – 500 schools upgraded as part of the Ngā Iti Kahurangi Programme! This achievement is a testament to the dedication, hard work, and collaboration that has gone into transforming New Zealand’s small and remote schools into modern, safe, and energy-efficient learning environments.

A Comprehensive Transformation

The four key improvements that have been driving this transformation started in January 2022, and since then, we’ve made remarkable progress. To date, we have installed:

  • 3,409 bales of insulation
  • 44,893 LED lights
  • 34,496 RCDs (Residual Current Devices for electrical safety)
  • 45,771 acoustic panels

In February 2024, we began our carpet upgrade initiative, and as of November 30, 2024, we’ve already installed 61,258m² of carpet across schools.

Progress to Date – By the Numbers

  • Kahurangi Programme (started January 2021):
  • 588 schools upgraded (81% complete)
  • 2,786 total upgrades (including the four key improvements)
  • Inanga Programme (started June 2023):
  • 175 schools upgraded
  • 1,041 total upgrades (22% complete)
  • Carpet Upgrades (started February 2024):
  • 757 schools in the carpet pipeline
  • 24% complete

Celebrating the 500th School Upgrade

As of now, we are celebrating the 500th school upgraded, marking a significant achievement for the Ngā Iti Kahurangi Programme. This milestone not only highlights the scale of the work we’ve accomplished, but also the positive impact we’ve made on the learning environments of thousands of tamariki and kaimahi across the country.

What’s Next?

The Ngā Iti Kahurangi Programme is far from over. With over 500 schools upgraded, we’re still working hard to complete the remaining projects, bringing better learning environments to even more communities. The final stages of the programme are already underway, with Kahurangi, Inanga, and Carpet Upgrades all progressing towards completion.

We’re proud of the work we’ve done, but there’s more to come, and we’re excited to continue making an impact in New Zealand’s educational spaces.

Thank You

We want to take this opportunity to thank the students, teachers, and school staff who have been part of this journey. Your patience, enthusiasm, and support have made all the difference, and we look forward to continuing our work together to ensure New Zealand’s schools are well-equipped for the future.
