As we continue sharing the stories behind our Work and Smile ads, today we’re introducing Mick, a Geraldton local whose journey combines craftsmanship, community and a deep sense of pride in the work he delivers.🎥✨
Born and raised in Geraldton, Mick spent part of his early adulthood serving in the Army in Townsville before returning home to complete his Carpentry Trades certification. What he enjoys most about carpentry is the satisfaction of seeing a project come to life, whether it’s a well-built deck or a completed kitchen fitout, he puts tremendous care into ensuring tenants feel comfortable and supported in their homes.
Mick takes great pride in his work, especially in recent projects where his attention to detail has directly improved the quality of living for Social Housing tenants. For him, carpentry isn’t just a trade, it’s a chance to create safe, functional and welcoming spaces for the community.
Returning to Geraldton also meant returning to family. Now raising his own young family, Mick values the opportunity to work close to home and looks forward to passing on his skills, knowledge and love for building to his kids one day.
Mick’s story reflects the heart of Work and Smile – finding pride in your craft, contributing to your community, and creating spaces that genuinely make life better for others.
Mick’s take on filming the ad:
“It definitely wasn’t your average day as a tradie, but I really enjoyed filming the ad – and having a good laugh at ourselves along the way.”
