At Programmed Facility Management, we believe one of the best ways to inspire the next generation is to give people the opportunity to see where a career in the trades could take them.
Today, we welcomed a group from the Māori and Pasifika Trades Training programme (MPTT) to meet our team and gain firsthand insight into the work we do.
The visit began with an introduction to Programmed, our services and the many people and skills involved in keeping facilities and community spaces operating safely and effectively.
The group then visited one of our live sites at Blockhouse Bay Community Centre. This gave learners the opportunity to see a real project in progress and learn more about how work is planned, managed and delivered safely on site.
Experiences like this help connect classroom learning with the realities of the workplace. They allow learners to ask questions, observe experienced professionals and better understand the range of career pathways available across facility management and the wider trades sector.
The MPTT programme helps Māori and Pasifika learners develop practical skills while receiving cultural, pastoral and employment support. This combination helps remove barriers to training and creates stronger pathways into apprenticeships and long-term employment.
Programmed is proud to support this work by sharing industry knowledge, providing meaningful workplace experiences and helping learners see where their training could take them.
These connections are also important for the future of our industry. By introducing learners to active workplaces and experienced teams, we can help build confidence, encourage participation and support the development of the next generation of skilled tradespeople.
As Programmed celebrates 75 years, we’re proud to reflect on a long history built around our people, customers and communities. While much has changed over the decades, our commitment to creating opportunities and supporting people to grow remains as important as ever.
