At Programmed Facility Management, career development is more than a goal, it’s part of how we build stronger teams, deliver better outcomes for our clients and create opportunities for our people to thrive.
Across our New Zealand business, many employees have grown their careers by embracing new challenges, expanding their skills and taking every opportunity to learn. Supported by experienced leaders, mentoring programmes and on the job development, their journeys demonstrate what’s possible when people are encouraged to reach their potential.
Adriany Rangel is one of those success stories.
Joining Programmed in 2022 as a Request for Service (RFS) Coordinator, Adriany quickly established a reputation for being reliable, hardworking and eager to learn. After taking a planned trip to Brazil, she returned to Programmed in a temporary role before continuing to build her career through a series of internal opportunities.
Over the following years, Adriany progressed through roles as a Contract Administrator, Operations Coordinator and Project Coordinator before recently stepping into a Project Manager position.
Today, she manages projects delivered under the Auckland Council contract, balancing office planning with on site coordination while ensuring projects are completed safely, on time, within budget and to a high standard. She also supports other Project Managers across the team, bringing strong organisational skills and a collaborative approach to every project.
For Adriany, the key to career progression is simple.”See the opportunity, find a way to grab it.”
She believes Programmed provides genuine opportunities for people who are willing to work hard, continue learning and challenge themselves outside their comfort zones.
Her manager, Michael, says Adriany’s progression was driven not only by her technical ability, but by her attitude.
“Adriany walked into a challenging environment and immediately showed determination, motivation and a willingness to learn. She actively sought opportunities through mentoring and external training, became someone both our team and our clients relied on and consistently demonstrated the ability to balance multiple priorities while taking on increasing responsibility.”
Michael says developing people from within is fundamental to Programmed’s culture.
“We build from within. It’s part of our DNA. We take pride in nurturing and growing the talent in our business because it strengthens our culture and delivers better outcomes for our clients.”
That same culture of recognising potential has also supported Grace Hammon’s career journey.
Grace joined Programmed around a year ago in a Receptionist and Programmed Facility Management Administrator role before moving into the Sports and Horticulture team six months later. Another six months on, she stepped into a Project Coordinator position supporting several Project Managers across the Auckland Council contract.
Her role is incredibly varied, spanning tender submissions, financial administration, project support and on site health and safety audits.
Grace describes it as an “everything” role, with every day providing opportunities to learn something new.
She believes saying yes to opportunities has played a significant part in her progression.
“If opportunities come up, put your hand up. Being proactive opens doors.”
Grace has also applied to join Programmed’s internal Mentoring Programme as she continues building her knowledge across finance, procurement and HR.
Michael says Grace stood out long before she joined the team.
“Our people kept telling us, ‘that she had skills.’ They recognised her potential, believed in what she could bring to the team and recommended we bring her across. It was one of the easiest decisions we’ve made.”
Evelyn Rapana’s journey tells a similar story.
Starting with Programmed in 2022 as part of the Parks Loose Litter team, Evelyn progressed into Leading Hand, then Foreperson and most recently stepped into the role of Service Delivery Manager, overseeing parks, waste, waterfront and security services.
Evelyn says the support she’s received has made each step achievable.
“I’ve climbed the ladder much faster than I expected. The support has been incredible. Don’t be afraid to ask questions or ask for help.”
Her manager, David Curgenven credits Evelyn’s strong work ethic, positive attitude and ability to take ownership of new responsibilities as the qualities that made her a natural leader.
At Programmed, stories like these are supported by structured development opportunities designed to help employees continue growing throughout their careers.
The company’s Mentoring Programme, launched as a pilot in 2023, has grown to more than 70 mentoring connections across New Zealand and Australia. As at February 2026, 21 per cent of mentees have received a promotion after participating in the programme.
Alongside mentoring, Programmed’s Learning and Development team has created Career Pathways resources that help employees explore opportunities, develop new skills and have meaningful conversations about their future.
The message is simple: Your Career, Your Opportunity.
Whether someone is taking their first step into the business or preparing for a leadership role, Programmed is committed to providing the support, guidance and opportunities needed to help people reach their potential.
Because when our people grow, our clients, communities and business grow with them.
