Programmed takes home industry safety award

10 June 2022

Last night Programmed was announced as the winner of the ‘Excellence in Safety & Wellbeing Culture’ award at the RCSA Rec Gala Australian Industry Awards Night held at Melbourne’s Plaza Ballroom. The Recruitment, Consulting & Staffing Association (RCSA) is the peak body for the recruitment and staffing industry in Australia and New Zealand.

Having previously been announced as a finalist in early May, this win is a fantastic achievement for our Programmed teams who incorporate safety and wellbeing into all aspects of our workplace and culture.

The award was chosen by how well each of the nominated companies adhered to the following criteria:

  • Commitment to Safety and Wellbeing
  • Continuous Improvement
  • Successful Results
  • Over and Above (going the extra mile)

In our award submission, Programmed was able to call out several initiatives that show how we put safety and wellbeing culture at the heart of everything we do.

  • Interactive virtual mental fitness training – We delivered sessions with tailored topics such as coping with a serious health event and stress.
  • Wellbeing focus groups – Introduced to identify things in the workplace that can harm or protect people’s mental wellbeing.
  • Psychosocial risk assessment – Programmed was one of the first organisations to implement such an assessment as well as identifying key psychosocial hazards.
  • Utilised Hudson’s maturity scale – When formulating our 2022 wellbeing plan, we used Hudson’s maturity scale and assessed where we were on the scale from a wellbeing perspective in order to progress up the scale moving forwards.
  • Target 50,000 – This is an initiative that all Programmed leaders are committed to achieving. Target 50,000 is all about encouraging employees to have as many quality safety interactions as they can, with the goal of reaching 50,000 by the end of the year. The target appears as a live dashboard so leaders and employees can, in real-time, track our journey towards this important milestone.
  • Safe driving initiatives – Programmed achieved a 45% reduction in total monthly counts for speeding after implementing several safe driving initiatives. The range of tools includes drivers receiving their own telematics and behaviours through reports so they can monitor and improve upon their behaviour.
  • ProSafe – Introduced initially as an incident management system, ProSafe has quickly grown into an integral part of our daily safety activities. ProSafe houses and collates information from all our safety engagement tools, which can be accessed anywhere, anytime through a mobile device. These tools help to prompt and guide meaningful safety interactions and enable discussion and coaching on aspects specific to each job.

We at Programmed are proud to have been recognised with this award by a respected industry body such as the RCSA and thank everyone within the organisation for their contribution towards this honour.

We all look forward to continuing to find ways in which we can keep putting the safety and wellbeing of ourselves and everyone we work with at the centre of what we do moving forwards.
