Wellington Pride

20 February 2018

Saturday 7 March 2020

Building a culture of respect for all people is a key element of our diverse and inclusive workforce. The inclusion of all employees, regardless of their backgrounds, sexual orientation, gender identity or intersex status is an important part of our diversity and inclusion strategy.  Our aim is to enable our people to bring their whole self to work and feel safe, empowered and motivated to be the best they can be.  We also want to continue to build and maintain strong relationships with organisations who represent the LGBTI+ community to assist us in making our workplace accessible to our LGBTI+ people.

The Wellington International Pride Parade which started in 2019 is a remarkable event created with the aim to build a platform enabling those who follow to create a moment in our lives where we can stop, acknowledge, raise our eyes and look to the future. The event has also been set out to build and deliver something that is uniquely Wellington and collectively celebrate who we all are.  Last year 1,900 Kiwis and visitors from around the world joined their friends, families, colleagues and communities to march in a parade that was all about them. A further 15,000 Wellingtonians lined the streets to spectate and show their support.

So when we were approached by the Wellington Pride committee to see if Programmed would like to be part of the 2020 Wellington International Pride Parade we jumped at the chance to be involved.

This year’s theme is “WATER; Dive into your Pride |TE WAI; Tō Mana. Whakarukuhia!”  Water symbolizes nourishment, life, motion, renewal, reflection, growth; so as the Wellington International Pride Parade grows, we want our community to grow as well.

Programmed will be one of the many corporates who have put up their hands up to celebrate and support the event and participate in the parade and show our commitment to diversity and inclusion.

We are looking for volunteers across Property Services, Facility Management and Skilled Workforce to represent Programmed and our values to march in the parade, hand out merchandise to the crowd and most importantly have fun!  This is a family event so children are welcome to participate.
